H is for Health Care

No research required for this item. We have all heard the crisis the health care system is in from one end of the country to the other. Here in Alberta we have a particularly serious concern since the implementation of the so called “super boards”. What is driving this movement? Who has decided that amalgamation is better, more effective and cost efficient? We see that how?

For a minute, let’s talk about the outrageous contracts these CIVIL SERVANTS obtain that include exorbitant payouts EVEN IF THEY ARE FIRED. And even if they QUIT. How is this effective in using taxpayers’ dollars? And then to hire them back again to the recreated Super Super Board? Excuse me, am I missing some sort of math calculation that makes this just, fair, equitable and RATIONAL? What is more amazing is that Albertans are not screaming their outrage at these shenanigans. Instead we line up meekly at Tim Horton’s for our sedation treatment.

Health care is one of our essential services in this, the 21st century. Why are we skimping on these services rather than accelerating them, given we are in the Boomer Generation’s senior years? Oh yes, that is right, MONEY. The driving force is to again (here’s the magic word) PRIVATIZE. That equates to milking the system for every possible cent. Let’s reflect back on the sale of AGT the government run telephone company, a real money maker for the government, aka, the taxpayers. How has that made our telephone bills cheaper, as they predicted? Of course it has NOT. Again, let’s take a look at our utility companies. Once again, even more horrifically, our bills have not decreased but rather quadrupled in cost over the last 15 years. We can go on and on about the horrors of privatization. What Einstein thought that privatization was a good thing? No one, of course. But we will just pretend and allow the media to fool the public with that little sardine.

It is amazing the amount of people who have NOT seen Michael Moore’s “Sicko”. Private insurance, private health care has one motivation and one motivation only – TO MAKE MONEY. Inevitably this requires efficiency in declining health care services. Is this what we want in Alberta and in Canada? Voting for either the Conservatives or the Liberals will lead us down this road. We heard it first back in Mulroney’s day, we continued to hear it with Chretien and Martin, and we are hearing it loudly with Harper.

We are an aging population, vote wisely. More than 60% of the Canadian population will be living under the poverty line upon retirement and private health care is not going to make your golden years more pleasant.
